CIS has been specifying and installing “Green” roof systems for over 10 years.


WHAT DOES THE CONCEPT OF “GREEN BUILDING” MEAN?

It can be defined as any project that conceptualizes a number of systems that when integrated, can bring efficiencies to mechanical operation and human performance. It is a project that considers the "true cost" of a building’s impact on the local, regional and global environment. A green build project considers the "life cycle costs" of the product or system over the "initial costs". These life cycle costs are associated with the manufacture, operation, maintenance and disposal of that product or system.


GREEN BY MAINTENANCE:

From our beginning, we have been teaching sustainability to our customer base. Educating our customers on how NOT to replace their current roof systems but extend that investment they made in that roof system by performing sustaining repairs and life-extension products that can “Cool” a roof down while protecting it against the elements and failure.

We specify recyclable roof replacement products when roof replacement is required. Green practices can reduce the need for landfill use.


VEGETATED ROOFS:

We have trained our teams to understand and install “extensive” green roof systems where the mating of waterproofing and natural environments can be properly executed and maintained.




LEED CERTIFICATION FOR YOUR BUILDING:

We understand the LEED rating system for buildings. By accumulating points for things like energy savings, storm run-off control, reduction of heat-island effects, etc., your building’s LEED rating increases. As the points increase your building’s sustainability level is increasing. We can help you with the design of some of those very key items that will help your building increase its sustainability – through roofing and waterproofing applications that achieve the highest ratings.

If you are not currently pursuing the LEED program for your building, we highly recommend it. As an owner or manger of property, you have a vested interest in reducing the operating costs of your property, while creating a more comfortable environment within that building. We would be glad to work with you on those improvements and have many products and systems for you to consider.

We choose to work with those manufacturers that are also GREEN minded and produce products that are Energy Star Compliant, Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) compliant and are members of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)
